Our Story

Dead Letter is a space for connection, conversation, and the stories that travel between tables. 

Created by the team behind the girl & the fig, Dead Letter brings together food, art, and community in a way that feels both familiar and entirely new.

Housed in one of Sonoma's early post office buildings, the space served as a place of exchange from 1896 to 1910, where messages were sent, received, and sometimes lost. The name Dead Letter is inspired by that history and the idea that stories often find new meaning through time.

Dead Letter offers a distinctly Northern California approach to cooking that doesn’t fit neatly into any single category. Rooted in exceptional ingredients and seasonal sourcing, the menu blends coastal influence with Wine Country sensibility, centered around a Josper Mangal charcoal grill.

Familiar flavors meet unexpected influences, with local ingredients treated simply and with respect. A curated cocktail program and wine list sit alongside the menu, designed to complement both the food and the setting
